Homecraft President’s Message

This year we are celebrating the bounty of Canada as we recognize how fortunate we are to live in such a rich agricultural country. We have tried to incorporate the theme of Bountiful Baskets in each section of Homecraft. In some sections, this was not easy, but we discovered that even in knitting and crocheting, there are patterns and stitches named ‘basket’. In other sections, our volunteers used their imaginations to stress the theme.

We hope you will join us in celebrating Canada’s bounty by sharing your talents and produce in an enjoyable display of competition at the Stirling Fair. Our judges are not from the local area, and we strive to get trained, qualified judges according to the Ontario Association of Agriculture Societies’ regulations.

Please Note : We are changing the end of Fair ‘pick up’ system. At 3 PM, Sunday, the Curling Arena will be closed. Our Homecraft members will take time to bundle up participants’ entries carefully. At 4PM, the building will re-open for exhibitors to pick up their items in each section. We ask that each exhibitor spend a moment to check their items against their entry list. If you have a friend pick up your items, we request that you send a signed note with the friend. We want to do our best to ensure the safe return of all items and hope that you will help to do this.

We look forward to seeing many new and old exhibitors, as well as all those who enjoy admiring the displays and activities in the Homecraft section of the Stirling Fair.

Please check the events’ listings and join us in August at the Curling Arena!
