Stirling Ag Society

Since 1983 the Stirling Fair has seen some changes and has grown into one of the most successful fairs around.  In 2003 – 2004 we became incorporated  and a Register Charity. Our Fair program has seen some changes but a lot has stayed the same to maintain our grass roots.  The Fair stills offers the Horse/Pony Draws, Beef Show, goat show , sheep show, 4-H Show, and local entertainment.  We have offered Mud Drags and Tractor Pulls.  We have discontinued
having Horse Racing, however we still have the track.  The Demolition Derby has continued and only got bigger and better.  In 2001 we decided to try something new and offered bigger entertainment and since that time we have offered it every year except one year.  The following are the entertainers we have
had:

2001 – George Fox

2002 – Julian Austin

2003 – Rick Tippie

2004 – Gill Grand

2005 – local entertainment only

2006 – Beverley Mahood and Aaron Pritchett

2007 – The Wilkinson’s.

2008 – Emerson Drive

2009 – Jessie Farrell and Aaron Pritchett

2010 – George Canyon

2011 – Gord Bamford

We have added the following events and they are still a large part of fair:

-  Lumberjack/jill competition

- Antique Tractor Pull

- 4-H Duck Club

- Stars Horse Show

- Demo Cross

- Lawn Mower Racing

- Lawn Tractor Pulls

- Wrestling

- Arm Wrestling

Our grounds have seen some changes over the years with the donation of land from the Parrotts, which have allowed us to expand our parking area and partner with the Stirling Soccer Association to provide soccer fields for our youth to use.  We have also partnered with the Hastings County Museum of Agricultural Heritage by providing them the land to establish the finest museum.

We have upgraded to ring fence and built a bridge/driveway from our original grounds to the donated land.  We also have upgraded utilities/electrical and done various repairs to our stage. In 2006 and 2007 we upgraded and expanded our office/secretaries building.

With the assistance of the Ontario Trillium Foundation we were able to expand our Food Booth and build new steel bleachers and start to upgrade the fencing on the perimeter of the grounds.

We held the RCMP Musical Ride in 2004, which helped us raise funds to do more fencing and bleachers.  In 2007 with the assistance of Trenval
funding we were able to complete the fencing of our grounds perimeter.

We have re-name one of our buildings and dedicated it to one of our long time Fair Board Members – Mr. Ralph Jeffs.  Also, in 2007 we seen one our oldest buildings (the bingo building) torn down by a local Menonite families.

We hope everyone both young and old enjoy the fair and we look forward to providing many more years of exciting activities for all to enjoy.
